Built From the Ground Up

William Sr. founded Moody Concrete in 1943 with little more than determination, ingenuity, and a deep understanding of hard work. At a time when resources were scarce and equipment was minimal, he relied on basic hand tools and a homemade mold he built himself to produce well tiles. The raw materials were just as humble—gravel gathered by hand from a nearby local beach—yet through patience and craftsmanship, those early products met real needs in the community. What began as a small, hands-on operation laid the foundation for a legacy built on resilience, quality, and pride in doing things the right way, even when the tools were few.

Following in his father’s hardworking footsteps, William Jr. expanded the family’s entrepreneurial roots by launching a trucking company in the years immediately after the end of World War II. After purchasing a surplus army truck, he began delivering hand-shoveled loads of sand, gravel, and manure to local farms and job sites, relying on long hours and physical labor rather than machinery. Each delivery was a testament to perseverance and reliability, as materials were loaded and unloaded by hand, one shovel at a time.

Laying the Groundwork for Growth

As the business evolved, William Sr. and William Jr. joined their individual operations, combining experience and resources to expand into the production of finished well tiles. In 1959, William Jr. officially took over the company and ushered in a period of significant innovation and growth. He introduced a frame system with a trolley track and double winch, allowing heavy concrete tanks to be safely moved down the length of the truck and precisely lowered into excavated holes—an advancement that dramatically improved efficiency and installation capability. As demand grew and concrete tanks increased in both size and weight, so did the equipment. Over the following two decades, William Jr. led the transition from a modest 4-metric-ton crane to a powerful 40-metric-ton crane, reflecting the scale of expansion and the company’s commitment to adapting its methods to meet the growing needs of the industry.

Building on a Foundation of Experience

The next chapter of the company’s story began when Bill Jr.’s son and daughter-in-law, Dave and Jasmine, joined the family business, bringing fresh energy and a new generation of leadership. By the 1990s, Dave had taken over operations with a clear focus on producing septic tanks and cisterns—products that were significantly heavier and more demanding to handle than ever before. To meet these challenges, the company added a specialized five-axle truck equipped with a Palfinger crane capable of lifting up to 32,000 pounds, dramatically increasing both capacity and efficiency. Demand continued to grow throughout the decade, and by the end of the 1990s, two crane-equipped trucks were required to keep pace, marking another major milestone in the company’s ongoing expansion and evolution.

Honouring the Past, Building the Future

In the most recent chapter of the company’s history, Dave’s sons, Brandon and Drew, along with their wives, have progressively taken over operations throughout the past decade, ensuring a smooth transition into the next generation. Staying true to the paths laid out before them, they continue to supply homeowners with essential products such as holding tanks, septic tanks, and cisterns, while also expanding the product line to include smaller complementary items like generator pads and landscaping blocks. Embracing innovation, they have welcomed partnerships with companies that integrate environmentally friendly systems into septic tanks, helping customers reduce their environmental impact. Guided by the values of hard work, quality, and family, Brandon and Drew share a common goal: to honor and continue the legacy built by the generations before them while thoughtfully preparing the business for the future.

Our Team

Today, the strength of the company lies in its close-knit team, with Brandon and Drew overseeing the day-to-day operations and ensuring that production, deliveries, and installations run smoothly. Working alongside them, their wives, Megan and Katie, serve as the administrative assistants. Together, they form a balanced and dedicated team, blending hands-on operational expertise with strong administrative support to deliver reliable service while upholding the family-run values the company was built on.
